Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Electric Vehicle Outlook 2019 presents one of the most optimistic forecasts of global electric vehicle (EV) market penetration to date. The annual report, which presents a long-term forecast of how electrification and shared mobility will impact global road transport from now to 2040, expects that 57% of all passenger vehicle sales will be electric by 2040.
But it’s important to remember that this prediction is predicated on the continuation of strong incentivization policies and ever-tighter emissions regulations.
